Teaser:

Narcissa sighed silently and started to realize what was going on in her sister the next moment. “Do you love him?”
It was as if someone had pushed a knife into Bellatrix’ chest. “Yes.” She answered as fast as a bullet that was shot from a gun and the bit n her lip as her sister suddenly grabbed her arm. “Don’t lie to me.” She repeated quitly. Coldly. “I’ll ask you one more time, Bellatrix. Do you love him?“
Bellatrix whole body started to shiver and she looked away fast. Her throat began to close and she couldn’t really breath. “No:”, she whispered silently, trying to be calm.“No, but I don’t have a different choice.”

She saw how he fell into the deepness. She saw the red light that hit him in the middle of his chest. She saw how he lost his balance and couldn’t stop it. He fell down, deeper and deeper and she was wishing that she could help him but if she’d followed him she would be dead, too.
She was forced to look away, to end her mission, to concentrate. She was almost hit by a spell and it cost her her whole power to fight the spell of.
She could hear voices in the distant. Voices that called her name, but the numbness, which seemed to expand in her, made her careless. She sent curses at her enemies and didn’t care if she hit them or not.
Too many people surrounded her, all of them where wearing black cloaks and they forced her to stop. She felt how hot tears rolled down her cheeks and hurried to hide her face, angry that she showed weakness in front of others. The numbness was gone as fast as it came. It had made place for her thoughts which raced to her head. It were thousands, thousands of memories, chaotic and disjointed, which seemed not go away.

Disgusted she looked at the content of her plate and jerked a little bit, so that no one else saw, before she looked away and stood up. “Pancakes.” She hissed and didn’t care about concealing the disgust in her voice. “Your personal has too much freedom. Excuse me, please, I’m not hungry anymore.”
She turned around and wanted to go but her sister, which was standing now, too, stopped her. “We both know that that is only a bad excuse, Bella.” She retorted and couldn’t hide a smile. “But I understand you. I couldn’t eat on my wedding day either.“
Bellatrix stayed silent and left the room without looking at Narcissa. She went up the stairs silently, opened the bathroom door. She looked at herself in the mirror for a long time, saw her face which was even paler than normally, looked in her tired, black eyes, which had lost every expression in a short time.
She cursed Narcissa because she talked about it, let her remember. She would be married soon, married to a man she didn’t really know. A man she pretended to love just to get away from the shame she carried with her, the shame to lust after the wrong one.
How good it would have felt to scream out loud, to hit something, but she forced herself to be silent. Looked at her reflection silently without realizing that her sister had entered the room.
“What’s going on?” she asked quietly and carefully put a hand on her shoulder. Involuntarily Bella flinched. “It… it’s nothing.”, she answered and tried not to meet Narcissa’s penetrating gaze but Narcissa only shook her head. “Don’t lie to me.”
Silence was what followed. Silence which almost seemed to crush Bellatrix but she didn’t try to speak. Finally it was her sister who lost her patience. “Tomorrow is your wedding day, Bellatrix, and you should be looking forward to it! And we both know that…” Narcissa stopped.
“Bella…” she continued with a softer voice. “Rodolphus is a good man… you’re doing the right thing.”
Silence.

The attacks hadn’t stopped even when she had landed. She shivered because it was so cold, tried really hard to keep warm in her ripped cloak. Her black tights were ripped too and drew a contrast to her white, almost see-through, skin which was exposed to the icy wind now which had started to blow a few hours ago. She was freezing and didn’t really realize that someone had put a protective arm around her and disapparted with her before she could do something. Carefully he opened the big door which had appeared in front of them from nothing. She could hear her sisters voice in the distance.
“What happened?” she asked silently and came nearer and nearer. Shadowy she could see her sister, felt Narcissa’s hand on hers. She almost flinched as she heard Lucius start to talk. Lucius who only spoke a few words to her, who had her in his arms no, who kept her upright, who felt how she still shivered. “Rodolphus is death.” He answered Narcissa as quiet as she spoke. It was as if they didn’t want her to hear. ”Yaxley found his corpse but I could bring it away before she saw it.”
But she had heard him. His words seemed to be burned into her memory, zoomed around her head again and again, way too loud. She screamed, screamed like she wanted her soul to be gone, closed her eyes and hoped that it would stop.
Narcissa cried silently too and pushed her hand again, harder than before. “I’m so sorry, Bella.” She wisphered. Bellatrix saw the tear stained face of her sister but she couldn’t answer. Her last power seemed to fade away now too and everything started to spin around her. She dropped into Lucius’ arms, would have fallen down if he hadn’t still held her. New pictures appeared in front of her eyes always the same ones. Rodolphus lifeless face, his lifeless body which fell down hundredths of meters. “Do you love him?” a voice suddenly asked in her brain again and again until she answered. “No.”, she heard herself say but her mouth didn’t move. “Do you love him?” the voice asked again, this time harder than before. “NO!” she screamed now without having control over her words, which made an echo in her ears.
When she woke up she saw Narcissa sitting on her bed. She seemed to be lost in her thoughts because she only looked up after a while and forced herself to smile. She stayed silent, knowing that Bellatrix wasn’t able to answer because she couldn’t even sit up. Powerless she fell back into the sheets again.
Like hours ago the memories of the evening came back when her sister asked her the question which seemed to hunt her now even though she said no hardly then. “Do you love him?”
“No”
No. She looked away shaking, trying to hide her face, wet with tears, didn’t want to look into Narcissas eye. She had always said no. Always said no.
Her voice, not much more than a whisper, was full of emotion, when she said it. Said it like he was there with them, in the room, sitting there instead of her sister, looking at her with a caring, soft look. Finally she was able to say it, so silently that she almost didn’t hear it herself. “I love you…"
